Labor market
You can find work in the hospitality industry or tourism, but usually have a lot of work for little money. The Gainful Occupation Permit allows a person who is not a citizen of the Republic of Seychelles to pursue gainful employment, self-employed or as an employee of a company or organization.
The application for such a permit must be submitted at least ten weeks before the planned start of work. It is not permitted to enter the country with the intention of taking up gainful employment without first obtaining a work permit.
According to countryvv, the application can either be made by the person who wants to do the job or by their potential employer. When processing the application, the following criteria are taken into account:
- Character, reputation and health of the applicant / the person to be employed,
- the professional or technical qualification,
- their financial resources,
- the possibility of having the same work carried out by people who are already in the country,
- the protection of local interests,
- the economic or social benefit of the activity to the Seychelles.

Real estate acquisition and investments
Foreign nationals or foreign legal entities can purchase or lease land in the Seychelles. You can also buy shares in companies that own real estate. This requires special government approval, which is issued after thorough examination and is valid for 1 year.
The application will only be approved if it is accompanied by a proposal for the development of the property. If the property is intended as a holiday home, the normal transfer tax of 4%, 30% of the purchase price up to 50,000 SR and 10% on the purchase price in excess of 50,000 SR must be paid.
In addition, the foreigner must deposit a sum specified in the decision in euros or dollars in a Seychelles currency account. The foreign currency is exchanged for rupees and must be used by the purchaser of the property for the development of the property.
In the case of investments in tourist or industrial real estate, the tax of 30% of the purchase price and the obligation to bring foreign currency into the country for the development of the property do not apply.

Emigration and Living Seychelles
Poisonous plants and animals, tropical diseases and hurricanes (because they are outside the cyclone belt) are virtually unknown here. The crime rate is extremely low. Still, the islands are mainly for retirees, financially independent, entrepreneurs and investors.
In a time zone that coincides with most of the working hours of the major financial centers and with excellent connections by ship or plane to Europe, the USA, Asia and Africa, the Seychelles are a perfect location for doing business.
An efficient telecommunication system, the extensively developed Port Victoria and a well-developed infrastructure with attractive investment incentives form the ideal business environment for investors. For long-term stays or emigration, you should have a good enough command of either French or English.
