Transfers in the Maldives

There is no permanent transport connection between the islands. All transfers from the airport to the hotel and back are organized by the hotels themselves. Depending on the distance of the hotel from the airport, the transfer can be carried out by various means of transport.
For transfers to hotels located near Male (South Male and North Male atolls), speed boats ( SPEEDBOAT TRANSFER ) or local boats – dhoni are used.

Seaplanes ( SEAPLANE TRANSFER ) or a combined transfer are used for flights to distant islands: first, a domestic flight on a regular plane to the local airport, then by boat to the hotel ( COMBINED TRANSFER – DOMESTIC FLIGHT & SPEEDBOAT ).

The type of transfer to the selected hotel is indicated directly in all tours. Some hotels offer two transfer options – seaplane (seaplane) and combined (domestic flight & speedboat), you can choose the option when booking.

Information about the combined transfer (domestic flight + boat):

– the aircraft can make intermediate landings at other local airports,

– schedule of domestic flights may change without prior notice;

– check-in for domestic flights starts 2 hours and ends one hour before departure.

Important information about seaplanes:
– seaplanes are operated by an independent transport company.
– the waiting time for a seaplane upon arrival can be from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
– the schedule of seaplane flights is compiled only the night before, based on the planned routes and weather conditions.
– Seaplanes operate only during daylight hours (from 06:00 to 16:00)
– Seaplanes can land on their way to the hotel/airport.
– due to the limited capacity of the seaplane, in exceptional cases, guests’ luggage can be delivered to the hotel on the next flight, depending on the number of passengers.

Baggage restrictions on seaplanes and domestic flights: Baggage no more than 20 kg and hand luggage no more than 5 kg per passenger. Baggage that exceeds the specified weight will be subject to a surcharge (paid locally at check-in).

Group transfers are included in the packages. A group transfer in the Maldives implies a joint trip with other tourists and a possible landing on other islands along the way and does not imply a guide.

!The waiting time for SPEEDBOAT TRANSFER, SEAPLANE TRANSFER upon arrival can be from 30 minutes to 3 hours !
Upon request, it is possible to organize an individual transfer, the availability and cost of which is requested at the hotel in each case.

The waiting time for a domestic flight depends on the flight schedule of local airlines and the availability of seats, is not negotiated and confirmed in advance, and upon arrival can be from 1 hour to 6 hours !

The Hotel / Tour Operator / is not responsible in case of changes in departure times or cancellation of domestic flights.
