Switzerland Sights

Switzerland in particular has many interesting sights to offer. You should definitely not miss Lenzberg Castle in Aarau. It was built between the eleventh and sixteenth centuries. From the castle you have a wonderful view over the beautiful old town of Aarau.

Aigle Castle near Aigle is also worth a visit. The castle is one of the most important castle complexes in the country. It dates from the twelfth century and is surrounded by many vineyards. Aigle Castle served its purpose as a prison until 1972. Today it houses one inside interesting wine museum.

The Tellhaus is also worth seeing.The House was built in 1925. The Tellspiel, performed by the citizens of Altdorf, takes place there every year.

You should also have seen Schloss A Pro near Altdorf. The building is home to the Uri Mineral Museum.

The Brownsche art collection in Baden is an absolute must. Here you can see various works of art from Impressionism, English and German painting.

You should definitely not miss a visit to the historical museum in Basel. The museum has an impressive cultural and art history collection of late Gothic tapestries, ecclesiastical art and an interesting depiction of the history of Basel from the Celts to the present day.

The highlight of the city of Bellinzona are the three castles, which noticeably influence the cityscape. The first castle, Castello Grande, was built in the thirteenth century over the ruins of a Roman fortress. Castello di Montebello was also built in the same century. Extensive renovations took place in this castle from the middle to the end of the fourteenth century. Castello di Montebello is now home to the historical and archaeological museum.
The youngest of the three castles dates from the fifteenth century. Castello di Sasso is now a museum of arts, folk costumes and handicrafts.

Anyone interested in art should put the Kunst museum Bern on the list of sights to see. There is an important collection of Swiss art here, as well as Italian and French paintings from the fourteenth to the twentieth centuries.

Conny Island is an absolute must, especially for Swiss tourists who are in the country as a family. Conny Island is an entertaining amusement park with an integrated dolphinarium, a petting zoo and more.

The international watch museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds is also absolutely impressive. Here you can see timepieces from different epochs of time and from different countries. You can see the first types of clock from ancient Egypt up to some clocks from today.

Switzerland also has a number of different sacred buildings from monasteries to churches. The most interesting ones would be the monastery complex in Disentis, the cathedral of Basel, the collegiate church of Bellinzona etc. There are sacral buildings to visit in any case in abundance in Switzerland.

A visit to the zoological garden in Basel is also an absolute must. It was opened in 1874 and had mainly European animals on offer for its visitors. This is no longer the case today, as today predominantly exotic animals live in the zoological garden.

Diavolezza is the place for anyone who likes to practice various winter sports. This is the most popular ski area in Switzerland.

The Greisbach Falls are a natural spectacle worth seeing. You plunge fourteen paragraphs into Lake Brienz from a height of three hundred meters.

Other natural beauties of Switzerland are Säntis, the great Alpine glacier and the Rhine Falls.
