Turn on and Access Wireless Internet via LED Bulbs

Have you ever imagined what life would be like without the internet? It’s impossible to think about it today. The popularization of this medium of communication was such that it is already possible to access the internet from almost everywhere. Shoppings, restaurants, buses and now even airplanes make available to its users means of accessing the worldwide computer network.

The technologies of Internet access are the most varied: network cable, Bluetooth, wireless, 3G, radio. And this list is capable of increasing. Studies done in China can bring great news to all users. It is the connection to the internet by way of LED bulbs. That’s right, is to turn on the light and enjoy to access your emails!

Internet in the light? As well?

The Chinese Academy of Sciences is conducting studies that promise to make it possible to transmit the signal from the internet, as well as data, through LED bulbs. They have already managed to establish a 2 Mb connection, but the searches promise much faster speeds.

The signal is transmitted to the devices with the lamp blinking. Calmly, the lights flash very lightly, imperceptible to the human eye. In this way the lamp can be used for illumination while allowing the user to connect to the internet and transmit data to other devices connected to the network.

The connection still does not reach the Gigabit house, but it’s much better some Megabits than transmission. Scientists at the College of Engineering Boston University are also involved in research and promise to double the speed of 2 Megabits.

Are you predicted to be “released”?

Because it is an old research that has only produced satisfactory results, it is difficult to say when this technology will be used by all. However, it evolves at a speed we can barely keep up with. So it should not take long for the first functional prototypes to start rolling out.

What are the benefits to the normal internet?

The first advantage cited by scientists in using the LED for data transmission is that it is safer. This is because any change in the frequency with which the LEDs flash can cause the device to lose the connection or even the user realizes, and it is much more difficult to invade.

Another advantage is the signal quality. Even if there is a thick wall separating the room from the room, the broadcast signal tends to be the best in any room. This is because the point of transmission is no longer concentrated in a single device, but by the whole house, if the user so wishes.

Now the bad news…

Obviously there are not only advantages in using this type of technology. The first problem encountered in using LED bulbs to transmit data is the fact that bulbs, even LED bulbs, have a short shelf life compared to the usage time of a router. Also, they are not as cheap as a network cable.

Even if it is not perceptible to the eyes of the human being, to transmit the data it is necessary that the lamp blinks. As many know, when a lamp flashes too much, it spoils faster.

To use the internet you need to have light on. With this the energy consumption increases considerably, because even during the day it would be necessary to keep the lights on.

Although scientists ensure that this technology is safer, every network is subject to hacking attacks, which requires a means of protecting itself to keep pests away from your computer. New technologies usually require new security solutions.

There is no denying that the idea of transmitting data by means of LED lamps is at least curious.Researchers are always looking for alternatives in order to make the user’s life easier and to take the internet closer to everyone, regardless of the technology used.

And you, dear user, what do you think of the new technology? Even if the research has not yet left the laboratories, it is already possible to have an idea of what can work and what can become a problem.Be sure to submit your comment and submit your opinion about it.
